    The Story

    About Juhu Chowpatty

Juhu Chowpatty (Juhu Beach) is one of Mumbai's longest and most glamorous beaches, stretching nearly 6 km along the Arabian Sea in the northern suburbs. A favourite haunt of Bollywood celebrities who live in the neighbourhood, it is famous for its spectacular sunsets, vibrant street food scene — especially pav bhaji and bhel puri — and the lively evening carnival atmosphere that draws thousands of visitors every day.

    History & Significance

Juhu Beach has been one of Mumbai's premier recreation spots since the early 20th century. Once a coconut plantation and quiet fishing village, it was drawn into the city as Mumbai spread northward. By the 1950s and 60s Juhu had become the preferred address of Bollywood's elite, and the neighbourhood remains home to many of India's biggest stars. Its wide, flat expanse even served as an early airfield — India's first commercial flight landed nearby in 1932. Every evening the beach fills with food vendors, families and couples watching the sun sink into the Arabian Sea.
