Mumbai Darshan Timings — When to Visit Each Temple
Mumbai's main temples open between 4:30 and 6:30 AM and close between 9:00 and 10:00 PM, and none of the five on our routes publishes a weekly closing day. Two details shape most days: ISKCON Juhu shuts every afternoon from 1:00 PM until about 4:00–4:15 PM, and Siddhivinayak runs a longer timetable every Tuesday, from 3:15 AM to 11:30 PM. Below are each temple's hours and aarti times from its own schedule, the quietest windows, and the dates that change them through March 2027.

Each row is the temple's own published schedule, re-checked on 27 October 2026. None of the five publishes a weekly closing day, so lists claiming one temple "closes on Mondays" are not based on anything the temple says. Festival days rewrite these hours (see the dates below), and the official pages are the final word: Siddhivinayak, Mahalaxmi, Mumbadevi, Babulnath and ISKCON Juhu.

Aartis are the most devotional moments of the day, and at some temples they stop the darshan line. Mahalaxmi closes darshan for all four of its aartis. Siddhivinayak's sanctum closes for naivedya (12:05–12:30 PM), and on Tuesdays its doors close from 8:45 to 10:10 PM, when Ganesha can be seen only from a distance. Babulnath lists its first aarti at 5:30 AM but darshan from 6:00 AM, so do not plan on attending that one without asking the temple. To attend an aarti, arrive twenty minutes early; for the calmest darshan, come just after one ends.

The quiet windows are our reading of each temple's schedule and its documented busy days. On waiting times, be wary of precise numbers: Siddhivinayak publishes none, and what its trust does say is that an estimated 1.5–2 lakh people use its common-darshan facility every Tuesday. Mahalaxmi's own estimate is 15–45 minutes on an ordinary weekday and 2–3 hours at weekends, festivals and on auspicious days. Those are the temples' figures for their own queues, not a promise from us. At Babulnath the calm hour and the water-abhishek window (6:00–11:30 AM) are the same hours.

Siddhivinayak's 2026 dates are from the trust's own calendar; the 2027 dates are from drikpanchang.com for Mumbai until the trust publishes its 2027 list, so check that page before you travel. What order fits the timings into one day?
The hours above force a sequence: the temples with morning-only windows first, the one with no midday break later, and ISKCON Juhu either side of its afternoon closure. This is the order our tours run, with the clock adjusted to the day's schedule; the drive times are in the Mumbai darshan in one day guide.
- 16:00 AM — hotel pickup. Siddhivinayak first, soon after darshan opens at 6:00 AM (Silver and Gold).
- 2Mahalaxmi — before its 6:45 AM aarti or as darshan resumes at 7:30 AM. On Bronze it is the first temple.
- 3Babulnath on Malabar Hill — in the morning, inside the 6:00–11:30 AM water-abhishek window (Silver and Gold).
- 4Mumbadevi — before the Zaveri Bazaar lanes fill; with no midday break, late morning still works.
- 5Gold only: north to ISKCON Juhu, aiming to arrive before the 1:00 PM closure. If the morning runs long, it moves to after the temple reopens at about 4:00–4:15 PM.
- 6The seafront — Marine Drive on every tour, the Gateway of India on Silver and Gold, Girgaon Chowpatty on Gold — then back to your hotel.

What time do Mumbai temples open for darshan?
Between 4:30 and 6:30 AM. ISKCON Juhu opens first, at 4:30 AM for the Mangala arati. Siddhivinayak holds its Kakad aarti at 5:30 AM and opens for darshan at 6:00 AM (3:15 AM on Tuesdays). Mahalaxmi and Babulnath open at 6:00 AM, and Mumbadevi at 6:30 AM.
What are Siddhivinayak temple's timings on Tuesday?
Tuesday has its own timetable: early darshan 3:15–4:45 AM, Kakad aarti 5:00–5:30 AM, then darshan through the day until 11:30 PM, when the checkpost closes. The doors close from 8:45 to 10:10 PM for the night pooja and aarti, when Ganesha can be seen only from a distance, and the Shejaarti is at 11:45 PM. On other days darshan runs 6:00 AM to 9:50 PM.
Is Siddhivinayak temple closed in the afternoon?
No. On an ordinary day darshan runs right through the afternoon; only the sanctum closes briefly for the naivedya offering, 12:05–12:30 PM. The exceptions are Vinayaki Chaturthi, when the main temple is closed to devotees from 7:30 AM to 1:00 PM, and Ganesh Chaturthi and Maghi Ganesh Jayanti, when the doors close from 10:45 AM to 1:30 PM and darshan is from a distance.
Are Mumbai temples open on Monday?
Yes. Siddhivinayak, Mahalaxmi, Mumbadevi, Babulnath and ISKCON Juhu all publish Monday hours, and none of them publishes a weekly closing day. Monday is Shiva's day, so Babulnath stays open an hour later (6:00 AM to 10:00 PM) and is busier than usual.
Why is ISKCON Juhu closed in the afternoon?
After the 12:30 PM Raj Bhoga offering the deities rest, so the temple closes from 1:00 PM until about 4:00–4:15 PM every day; the first evening arati is at 4:15 PM. The grounds and Govinda's restaurant (lunch until 3:30 PM) stay open. Plan the temple before 1:00 PM or after it reopens — not at 4:30 PM, a time copied from the morning opening.
When does Mahalaxmi temple close for aarti?
The temple is open 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM, but darshan closes during each of its four aartis: 6:45–7:30 AM, 11:45 AM–12:20 PM, 6:15–6:40 PM and 7:20–7:45 PM. Arriving just as the morning aarti ends at 7:30 AM is one of the calmest times to visit.
What are Babulnath temple's timings?
Monday 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM, Tuesday to Sunday 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM, per the temple trust. Aartis are at 5:30 and 11:30 AM and at 5:30 and 7:45 PM. Water (jal) abhishek is offered only from 6:00 to 11:30 AM; the trust lists no milk abhishek, and milk offerings by devotees were restricted in 2023 to protect the ageing lingam.
What is the best time of day for darshan in Mumbai?
Early morning, on a day that is not the temple's own busy day — not a Tuesday at Siddhivinayak or Mumbadevi, not a Friday at Mahalaxmi, not a Monday at Babulnath. Mahalaxmi's own estimate for an ordinary weekday is a 15–45 minute wait, against 2–3 hours at weekends and festivals. Our tours pick up at 6:00 AM for this reason.
Do temple timings change during festivals?
Yes. Siddhivinayak has separate timetables for Tuesdays, Sankashti and Vinayaki Chaturthi, Maghi Ganesh Jayanti (next: 10 February 2027), Angarki (next: 22 June 2027) and Ganesh Chaturthi (next: 4 September 2027). Mahalaxmi stays open until about midnight in Navratri, Babulnath runs through the night on Maha Shivaratri (next: 6 March 2027), and ISKCON Juhu extends its hours for Janmashtami. Check the temple's official site in festival weeks.
When is the next Angarki Chaturthi at Siddhivinayak?
Tuesday 22 June 2027 — the only Angarki Chaturthi in 2027, per drikpanchang.com for Mumbai. Angarki is a Sankashti Chaturthi that falls on a Tuesday, and on it the trust runs common darshan from 2 AM until about 1 AM the next morning. The last one was on 29 September 2026.
